Avocado shown mashed in a bowl to make Healthy Avocado Salad Dressing

Healthy Avocado Salad Dressing

Servings 4

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • A very ripe avocado- it should be slightly soft when you press into it gently. If it’s hard it will not mash properly and the flavor will not be developed.
  • 1/2 tsp. Garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Onion powder
  • salt to taste

Instructions

The Nitty-Gritty

  1. open your avocado by slicing it lengthwise along the entire edge.

  2. remove the pit by using a large knife to hack into it, then twist. The pit will come out stuck to the blade of the knife. You don’t need to hit it hard. Watch the fingers!

  3. mash the avocado until it’s very smooth and light. I whip mine with my fork.

  4. add your spices and salt to taste.

Recipe Notes

Food Hack: ripen your avocados on the counter. When they are ready store them in the fridge. Mine have lasted over 2 weeks this way! WARNING- don’t put HARD avocados in the fridge. They will take forever to ripen up!

Keep in mind this is a very basic recipe. It’s meant to be customized in any way you like! I’ve even added mustard and maple syrup to it before for a sweet and sour flavor. You could try so many different variations! I think an Asian inspired one would be awesome with a little sesame oil, soy sauce and some brown sugar.
